Ideas range from VR rock musicals to strategy adventures focusing on nature

Five up-and-coming Hamburg-based game developer teams have pitched their way into the Games Lift Incubator 2021 underway from September 9, 2021 to prepare them for international markets. A total of 17 teams and individual developers applied for the second round of the incubator, according to Gamecity Hamburg.

Winners reflect breadth of games industry

The five teams in the Games Lift Incubator 2021 are: "The Invitation" by Tool1 (multiplayer loot game), "Monstersongs VR" by Denise Koch (graphic novel with playable virtual reality rock musical), "Prospector" by Koriol (science fiction adventure), the mobile game "Supernightshift" by Consider It (City of Hamburg as a digital game board) and "The Treepoids" by Supernatural Games (nature strategy adventure).

The incubator scheme features start-up funding of EUR 15,000 per team, an intense three-month workshop from September to December as well co-working spaces. The teams also benefit from mentoring by international industry experts to prepare them for the games industry.

Gamecity Hamburg supporting developers of digital games

Gamecity Hamburg will back the teams for another year and offer individual coaching by professional consultants and a PR agency specialising in indie games. This should allow the teams to develop their ideas and concepts for marketable games projects backed by the Games Lift network. That consists of experts in marketing, pitching, business development, product development and press relations. The developers will demonstrate their progress in the incubator during a final public pitch in December
