"We work intensely with teams and mentors on the strategic direction of Phase 1 projects in our Games Lift Incubator. We increase our support for the teams after the three-month workshop, hold regular meetings and provide additional mentoring geared entirely towards their individual goals," said Margarete Schneider, Project Manager at Gamecity Hamburg. Long-term support for the teams is important as many queries arise during the later development of the projects. The teams can outline their ideas in Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft's new innovation room in HafenCity and access the Games Lift Network with over 30 international experts in the games industry
Gamecity Hamburg is now accepting applications for its Games Lift Incubator 2023 until the deadline of June 20, 2023. Games developers and early-stage start-ups based in Hamburg or those planning to move to the city are eligible to apply. Successful applicants can obtain EUR 15,000 in funding, access to workshops and mentors.

Admission to incubator
The most promising applicants must pitch their ideas online. A committee consisting of experts including Heiko Gogolin, Managing Director of Rocket Beans Entertainment and representatives of Gamecity Hamburg and the Ministry of Culture and Media, will select five teams for admission to the scheme. The teams take part in the three-month workshop from September 11, 2023 until December. During Phase 2, the teams will have additional meetings and be coached by mentors and a PR agency specialising in indie games until September 2024 as marketing is crucial to success. Launched in 2020, the Games Lift Incubator has backed 15 successful teams and counting.
