Affordable Art Fair 2023 to get underway in Hamburg

Art for everyone from November 9-12, 2023

The Affordable Art Fair gets underway from November 9 to 12, 2023 in Hamburg Messe. Then, around 85 art galleries from 17 countries will present works by both up-and-coming and established artists. The  "Emerging Artists" section will showcase works by independent artists and university graduates. Visitors can purchase works of art at prices ranging EUR 100 to EUR 10,000.

Art fair to host event in Berlin

"We see ourselves as part of the democratization of art and want to show people that art can be fun," said Oliver Lähndorf, Director of the Affordable Art Fair. This platform brings international trends to Hamburg and remains firmly established in the city's art scene, he added. The Affordable Art Fair is held in 15 cities worldwide and will debut in Berlin from April 12-14, 2024. "We are proud to have established ourselves as a fixed institution in Hamburg and are now planning a second venue n Germany. Our concept matches the times perfectly, " said Lähndorf.

Background to Affordable Art Fair 

The fair showcases paintings by contemporary artists and photographers. The exhibitors include galleries such as the Dutch Post Modern Collection or Germany's Uhlig Gallery, newcomers such as Timo von Eicken, Christoph Rode or Josephine Sagna, and world-renowned greats such as Gerhard Richter, Rosemarie Trockel, Günther Uecker, David Hockney and Tony Cragg. The Affordable Art Fair was launched in London in 1998 by gallery owner Will Ramsey as a new kind of art fair - open, low-threshold, and affordable. Meanwhile, Ramsey Fairs are now among the world's largest art fair companies and also organize the British Art Fair and the Volta Fairs.
