Properties with high space efficiency

In Hamburg's Peute industrial estate, properties with high space efficiency are key to economic development. The commercial centres, including the Elbcraft commercial campus and the properties managed by the Hamburg Port Authority at Peutestrasse 22, offer a wide range of possible uses. Elbcraft offers centrally located commercial lofts with individual addresses and flexible spaces, ideal for creative minds in the service, trade and retail sectors, and this infrastructure is complemented by innovative car parks developed by Goodman especially for Amazon. These projects transform brownfield sites into efficient multi-storey car parks with over 1,500 parking spaces and a pre-equipped charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. These sustainable solutions strengthen Hamburg's position as a major logistics centre. The high space efficiency of projects such as the Elbcraft commercial campus and the innovative parking pallets (e.g. for Amazon) in Peutestrasse is crucial for the economic and sustainable development of the location as a modern logistics and commercial centre in Hamburg.

Hamburger Energiewerke's new pressurised heat storage facility on the inland island of Peute

Infrastructure for the heating transition

In Hamburg's Peute industrial estate, the infrastructure for the heat transition is taking shape with Hamburger Energiewerke's new pressurised heat storage facility. The domed roof weighing around 72 tonnes was recently lifted onto the 35 metre high storage facility near Georgswerder Dam. With a diameter of 14 metres and a capacity of four million litres, the storage facility will store the industrial waste heat from the neighbouring copper manufacturer Aurubis. This stored heat will be fed into Hamburg's city grid, which is over 860 kilometres long, at times of need, enabling around 20,000 households to be supplied with climate-neutral district heating from the 2024/2025 heating period. The use of the heat storage facility will help to save around 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year and underlines Hamburg's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and reducing its dependence on fossil fuels. Peute's commitment to the energy transition is manifested in the construction of Hamburger Energiewerke's 35-metre-high pressurised heat storage facility, which will use Aurubis' industrial waste heat to supply around 20,000 households with climate-neutral district heating from the 2025 heating period, thus saving 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
