New monitoring tool visualises content and statistics

The Urban Data Platform Hamburg (UDP HH) has launched a new monitoring tool  or cockpit to evaluate and visualise the contents and usage statistics of the data hub. The hub bundles data on the population, transport, construction, science and culture and places them at the public’s disposal. The data can be filtered by subject area and using keywords.

Meeting urban challenges with digital tools

"The Urban Data Platform's cockpit is a window onto Hamburg's rich urban data scape. From now on, you can get a quick and clear overview of which digital resources are available to meet the challenges of urban development with new digital tools," said Prof. Dr. Gesa Ziemer, Director of the CityScienceLab at HafenCity University (HCU). "Only recently, Hamburg was voted number one among the 'smartest cities' in a comparison of more than 400 German cities because digitalisation of everyday urban life has progressed most here," said Dr. Dorothee Stapelfeldt, Senator for Urban Development and Housing.

Transparent access to data

The new web interface refers among others to the most popular data sets on the platform or the number of accesses to UDP applications. Users gain insight by clicking through individual categories and filtering information. The cockpit was developed by the Landesbetrieb Geoinformation und Vermessung (LGV) in co-operation with the CityScienceLab at the HafenCity University (HCU). Together, they are developing a joint competence centre for urban data management as part of the senate's "Digital City" strategy.
