The number of aircraft movements came to 21,100 take-offs and landings (2019: -71.6 per cent). The average aircraft load factor reached 64.7 per cent (2019: -17.3 per cent). Although traffic was slow to recover in the first few months, the positive turnaround came with the start of summer holidays in north Germany. "This summer, we are expecting up to 30,000 passengers per day and around 60 to 70 per cent of the arrivals and departures in 2019, " said Katja Bromm, Head of Communications at Hamburg Airport.
Around 15,000 and 20,000 daily passengers are travelling through Hamburg Airport at present. This comes after the airport’s half-year results indicated rising passenger numbers as the first summer vacationers return. Around 1.07 million passengers travelled through the airport during the first half of 2021 (2019: 8.24 million).
