Two Hamburg-based frontrunners stood out in terms of R&D and Tech Power. Weinmann Emergency came sixth among the top 10 most innovative SMEs for the second year running. The family-owned company works in emergency, transport and disaster medicine worldwide. "Innovative and user-friendly medical technology is developed in close co-operation with experts in emergency rescue," a representative of Munich Strategy told Hamburg News. Altona Diagnostics came twentieth based on its performance in medical diagnostic tests. The ranking is based on an "innovation score" consisting of two-thirds innovative strength and one-third performance. Good Mills Germany (89th place) and Dermalog Identification Systems (91st place) held onto their places. Both scored particularly well with continuous innovations (Innovation Vitality).
Six Hamburg-based companies are among the 100 most innovative firms in Germany, according to a survey by the Munich Strategy consultancy and published by the weekly Wirtschaftswoche on Friday (August 9, 2024). Around 4,000 firms with an annual turnover of between EUR 10 million and EUR 1 billion were analysed for the ranking. The top 100 include Weinmann Emergency Medical, Altona Diagnostics, Bösch Boden Spies, Yogi Tea, Good Mills Germany and Dermalog Identification Systems

Bösch Boden Spies and Yogi Tea join ranking
Two other Hamburg-based companies joined the top 100 for the first time - a clear reflection of Hamburg's growing importance as a centre of innovation. Bösch Boden Spies came 41st based on its innovative soil cultivation solutions and its high innovative strength. Yogi Tea, whose headquarters in Hamburg is partly responsible for the brand's success in Europe, came 76th and especially for its strong perception among rivals (Innovation Perception).
