scoopcamp to become live, hybrid event

This year's scoopcamp gets underway on September 24, 2020 as a live, hybrid event and will be both analogous and digital.  Jeff Jarvis, journalist and associate professor of media in New York, is this year's scoop Award winner. The media conference by nextMedia.Hamburg and Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) attracts movers and shakers in national and international media to HafenCity every year where a small number of delegates will meet this year. The corona-induced restrictions will see most delegates click onto the livestream event.

Responsible journalism more important than ever

This year's conference will be held under the theme of  "New Storytelling" and provides a framework for debating the latest trends and topics at the interface between editing, programming and product development. "The last few months have again shown how necessary responsible journalism is for our open society and a lively democracy," said Jana Schiedek, State Councillor for Culture and Media in Hamburg. "Thus, it is important that media professionals continue to exchange ideas with each other, network and discuss journalistic perspectives for the future."

"What would Google do?“

The highlight of the event is the presentation of the scoop Award. Jarvis has lectured at the City University of New York since 2005 and advises media companies on digitization processes. In 2009, his book "What would Google do?", which shows how companies can benefit from the business strategies of the Internet giant, made him famous worldwide. Jarvis' eagerly awaited keyote on "Journalism, rebuilt from the ashes" will indicate how journalism can reposition itself to tackle the latest challenges. The award ceremony and the subsequent lectures mark the start of a diverse mix of inspiring lectures by well-known speakers, exciting masterclasses and networking with delegates.

Free online registration for digital event

Tickets to the event in the designxport in HafenCity are limited owing to the corona pandemic. However, delegates can register free of charge to take part digitally in keynotes and panels. Both kinds of tickets are now available.
