Awards, investments and innovations across metropolitan region - from Fehmarn to Soltau, Cuxhaven to Schwerin

Schwerin/Lübeck: A recently begun line expansion project will cut the train journey from Schwerin to Lübeck to 53 minutes in future. Sixty-three kilometres of railway line are being doubled and electrified and a new connecting curve is being built near Gallentin to shorten the route. The work is a “key project for the north”, according to Wolfgang Blank, Minister for Economics in the state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. “It creates better connections for people and goods regionally, nationally and internationally,” he added. This should boost connectivity across the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.
