Padenstedt: A green hydrogen production plant is to be built in Padenstedt near Neumunster. The plant will be docked onto a biogas plant to produce hydrogen from liquid manure and dung instead of wind and solar energy. This is the first production plant of this size, according to the Hof-based BTX Energy in the state of Bavaria. The company recently signed a letter of intent to build the plant which will produce 120 tons of hydrogen annually for industry and transport.
Hanover: Fledgling startups in the scaleup phase, spin-offs from research projects and socially responsible companies can now apply for Lower Saxony’s “Durchstarterpreis” awards in three categories. The deadline for applications ends on May 11. Winners receive EUR 10,000 in prize money. The awards will be presented on during the next Startup Day on September 17.

Lübeck's new pop-up department store
Lüneburg: The temporary pop-up department store "Feines aus Lübeck" has opened in Lüneburg. The 260-square metre open store features a brewery, a coffee roaster, a bakery and a skateboard and belt manufacturer. Initiated by the Lübeck Business Development Agency, Jan Lindenaum, Mayor of Lübeck, said at the opening: "The project impressively shows how much creative potential there is in Lübeck and how vacant spaces can be brought back to life through new uses".

Skilled Workers Service Centre in Schwerin
Schwerin: Baby boomers are retiring, and many companies are looking for skilled workers. Companies in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania are recruiting trainees and staff from countries outside the EU. People from third countries, who want to work or train in the state, can also contact the centre.

Mecklenburg-West Pomerania attracting more investors
Schwerin: Seventy out of 100 places in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania have moved up the rankings of the “Die Deutsche Wirtschaft” network. In many cases, innovative concepts, progressive management and well-designed residential areas scored points. The state capitals of Schwerin and Gallin in the Ludwigslust-Parchim region proved particularly successful with their A24 business parks. In recent years, several hundred million euros have been invested in the 300-hectare business park, creating more than 4,000 jobs.
New industrial estate in Brackel
Brackel: A new industrial estate is being built in Harburg. The 10.5-hectare site near the A7 motorway is suitable for companies in the manufacturing, trade, retail and service sectors. Plots from 1,000 square metres are available. A total of EUR 9.3 million is being invested in development and marketing. The industrial estate is scheduled to open in late 2025. Companies wishing to relocate can contact Wirtschaftsförderung im Landkreis Harburg GmbH.
