MIPIM 2026 in Cannes

3 March 2026
Hamburg presents strong partnership and future locations for investments

From 10 to 13 March 2026, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg will be presenting itself at the international real estate trade fair MIPIM in Cannes with a joint appearance by 21 partners. The Hamburg stand represents the combined expertise of urban development, business development, project development and the property industry.

All stand partners are bringing bold visions, sustainable concepts, concrete projects, development-ready sites and long-term neighbourhood developments to Cannes. The aim is to attract international investors, project developers and capital providers for Hamburg's future locations. The Olympic bid "A chance for all", the planned spectacular new Hamburg State Opera building in HafenCity and future locations such as Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld and the development of the innovation parks are examples of the city's new beginnings and international appeal far beyond Hamburg - as a "place to be" for innovation, economic power and urban development.

Karen Pein, Senator for Urban Development and Housing: Stability and reliability in turbulent times

"MIPIM is an important international platform for Hamburg to present our city as a strong and future-oriented property location. For us, the focus is on sustainable construction, affordable housing and the transformation of our neighbourhoods. With projects such as Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld, we are showing how innovative urban development, research and housing can go hand in hand - and can also provide new impetus in the context of a possible Olympic bid," says Karen Pein, Senator of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing. "At the same time, we are focussing on reliable framework conditions for investors. These include a strategic land policy, partnership-based cooperation and smart simplifications to facilitate investment in a challenging market environment and to strategically develop our city."

Hamburg combines growth with clear urban development guidelines and a strategic land policy. Close co-operation between the public sector and private partners is a decisive factor for success.

Dr Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest: Innovation parks as a strategic investment proposition

Hamburg Invest is using MIPIM to position the innovation parks in Bergedorf and Altona as key locations for the future of the city. Both areas stand for targeted space development in high-growth sectors and offer concrete prospects for investors and project partners.

"The Hamburg-Bergedorf and Hamburg-Altona innovation parks are central components of Hamburg's innovation strategy. While Altona is developing international appeal as a growing life sciences centre, Bergedorf is positioning itself as a future location for renewable energies and climate-neutral technologies. Space is being created here for research-related companies, start-ups and industrial partners with clear prospects for sustainable returns and long-term location loyalty. At MIPIM, we are presenting these development areas as concrete investment opportunities in a stable, future-orientated market environment."

Dr Andreas Kleinau, Chairman of the Management Board of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH: Swift and bold plans for new districts

"There is a spirit of optimism in HafenCity, Billebogen, Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld and Grasbrook. Whether with new plans, construction starts or completions: Many projects are making rapid progress despite the recent challenging conditions. Developers are being rewarded for their courage and perseverance. With new property offers in HafenCity in 2026, we are offering the opportunity to take part in this success story and continue the innovative neighbourhood development with your own ideas."

Hamburg HafenCity stand reception: personal talks, new contacts, in-depth discussions on specific projects and investment opportunities

On Tuesday, 10 March 2026, at 16:00, Hamburg invites you to the Hamburg HafenCity reception at the joint stand. In a relaxed atmosphere, there will be an opportunity for direct dialogue with representatives of the city and the participating companies. Personal conversations, new contacts and in-depth discussions on specific projects and investment opportunities will take centre stage and create a framework for targeted networking at an international level.

With its presence at MIPIM 2026, Hamburg is sending a clear message from Cannes: Germany's second-largest metropolis is not only a stable property location, but also a strategically positioned transformation area. Public and private investments are intertwined, projects are financially backed and thus provide a solid foundation for long-term commitments.
