Estonia's Marabu Airlines is now operating flights to 14 destinations in Greece and Spain from Hamburg Airport, a press release said Tuesday (May 2, 2023). The partner of Condor will begin flying to Tallinn on July 7, 2023 and has stationed three Airbus A320 neo aircraft in Hamburg for those connections.

Modern and quieter NEO generation aircraft

"We consider it positive that Marabu has chosen Hamburg as a partner from day one. As a CO2-neutral airport, we welcome the fact that Marabu is stationing two new, quieter NEO generation aircraft here," said Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport. Marabu's maiden flight from Hamburg was to Hurghada in Egypt to which it will fly seven times a week this summer. More frequent flights are scheduled to Corfu, Kos, Zakynthos, Heraklion and Rhodes twice a week, Chania three times a week and Preveza/Lefkas once a week. Marabu is also operating flights to Malaga three times a week, Jerez de la Frontera twice a week and Gran Canaria once a week, Rome four times a week and Faro in Portugal three times a week. The airline will also begin flying to the Estonian capital Tallinn every Friday and Saturday from July 7, 2023. The destination marks a return to Hamburg's route network.

Great potential for new airlines

"As an airport for the entire north, we have a large catchment area from Lower Saxony to Denmark - which holds great potential especially for new airlines," Behrens pointed out. Four A320neo, two A321 and one A320 are now in service. Hamburg Airport is one of Marabu Airlines' two bases in Germany, along with Munich. The Estonian airline now aims to improve travel to popular holiday destinations in the Mediterranean.
