This year's "Hamburg Innovation Summit goes hybrid" on May 20 combines a face-to-face event in the Altonaer Kaispeicher with the live stream established in 2020, organisers said. The cross-sector, interdisciplinary exchange of ideas will see Hamburg's innovators generate plenty of new ideas. The conference also aims to link up research, business, politics and society. The highlights include a virtual trade fair and "Waterkant Talks" with Hamburg's senators in a free livestream. Limited tickets for part of the event are available from March 15, 2021.

The Hamburg Innovation Summit is organised by the Ministry of Economics and Innovation (BWI), the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB Hamburg) and Hamburg Innovation GmbH. Andreas Richter, Head of the Innovation, Technology and Clusters Department at BWI, has termed HHIS "part of a bold culture of innovation that whets the appetite for new things, for change and for creative design". A free live stream allows delegates to attend this year's event. The summit consists of a conference with workshops in the academy and an exhibition. An Awards Ceremony (HHIA) is held every second year. The annual event attracts around 1,500 visitors.
