"The SKL Happiness Atlas broadens research on satisfaction and well-being in Germany and make the results of happiness research accessible to a broader public," said Bettina Rothärmel, Chair of the Executive Board of the German Lottery Association (GKL). The ranking is based on representative surveys of 12,452 people across all 16 German states and reflect growing satisfaction, "We have largely overcome the effects of coronavirus, and the effects of inflation are a thing of the past," said Bernd Raffelhüschen, Scientific Director of the SKL Happiness Atlas. Good healthcare improves satisfaction
Hamburg is considered an overperformer in an objective ranking that takes account of e.g., purchasing power and safety. Hamburg came tenth in this ranking and outperformed all other German states in the subjective satisfaction ranking. Satisfaction with healthcare was particularly high. In addition, large cities such as Hamburg, which were hit hard by the pandemic, have regained their satisfaction levels.
