Hamburg Invest's "Scaleup Landing Pad" helps U.S., Asian and European start-ups launch on markets

Ten international green tech start-ups are to receive backing from Hamburg Invest's Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg. The participating companies also gain mentoring worth up to EUR 50,000, a press release said Monday (June 12, 2023). The goal is to help teams from Estonia, Israel, Italy, Canada, Colombia, Sweden, France and Singapore launch onto the German and European markets from Hamburg with a view to expansion. The start-ups were selected based on their power of innovation, sustainability and other criteria.

Hamburg attractive for innovative green tech companies

"I am certain that Hamburg is exactly the right place for the ten international start-up teams that will be supported by the 'Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg' this year. Hamburg has spent years creating a unique environment for start-ups," said  Dr Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Economics. "Given the high quality of the applicants, we are impressed by how quickly the 'Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg' has been able to establish itself as a new offer for start-ups," said Dr Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest. That illustrates the importance placed on sustainable solutions by fledgling companies in Hamburg and all over the world. "The applications by these international companies also confirmed Hamburg's attractiveness as a northern European centre for innovative green tech companies," he added.

Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg's network of service providers

Hamburg Invest puts the participating start-ups in contact with suitable companies and partners in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Israel's 1M Robotics is among those selected and offers a compact and automated solution for omnichannel retail. Curium from Singapore, on the other hand, specialises in autonomous driving systems while Sweden's Elonroad has developed system to build charging infrastructure such as electric roads, charging stations and opportunity chargers at stops and loading bays. The French start-up, H3 Dynamics, offers a solution for autonomous, hydrogen-based aviation. All the participating start-ups receive customized services, personal one-to-one advice and access to a curated network of external partners through late 2023.
