The high demand for holiday flights and more private travel to visit friends and relatives is fuelling the upswing.
Hamburg Airport welcomed its ten millionth passenger in 2022 and passenger numbers have almost doubled over the 5.32 million in 2021. However, passenger numbers remain 25 per cent below pre-pandemic levels, Hamburg Airport said in a statement on Monday (November 21, 2022).

Non-stop flights to 90 destinations
Hamburg Airport will operate direct flights to La Palma and Ankara this winter. The Hungarian budget airline, Wizz Air, will fly direct to Sofia every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from December 13. Emirates Airlines will fly to Dubai twice daily. Eurowings and Condor will offer daily flights to Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura and twice-weekly connections to Lanzarote, Hurghada in Egypt and Lisbon while Madeira will be served once a week. This will be followed by non-stop flights to Geneva, Bergen and Reykjavik from March 2023.
