Five games projects in latest Games Lift Incubator

30 July 2024
New funding from September 9, 2024 - EUR 15,000 and support for Hamburg's game developers

Five games projects will receive EUR 15,000 each from the Games Lift Incubator from September 9, 2024. The selected teams can attend a year of workshops and avail of both mentoring and networking opportunities backed by Gamescity Hamburg.

Diverse games projects in Games Lift Incubator

"We are particularly pleased to have received more applications from outside Hamburg, who consider the city attractive for start-ups," said Margarete Schneider, Project Manager at Gamecity Hamburg. The selected projects include the 3D puzzle platformer "ForeFeathers" by Team Honeybeak in which players explore the ruins of an ancient bird civilisation. In "Frisia - Cozy Villages" by Rouven Cabanis, players gain control of an uninhabited  North Sea island and have to build a functional, cosy town based on Frisian architecture. "Light of Atlantis" by Duck 'n' Run Games is a 2D puzzle metroidvania in which robots explore the sunken ruins of Atlantis. "Pubcrawler" by Triflgard lets players steer a mechanical pub through an apocalyptic wasteland. "Tiny Garden" by Tales from the Garden puts players in the role of a deity who fills an abandoned planet with life.

Customised support and international networking

The funding scheme includes workshops and mentoring sessions that are tailored to the teams' needs. The Games Lift Incubator offers participants "comprehensive start-up support and enables them to make contacts across Hamburg's diverse games scene", said Schneider. The first phase includes training on project management and marketing, followed by a public pitch in December 2024. During the second phase, which runs until September 2025, the teams will be mentored by Xsolla’s Manny Hachey, which is a payment service provider for online games, and Daniel Marx of Osmotic Studios. This year's scheme also includes a joint trip to an international industrial event to make early contacts across the global gaming industry early.
