Jurors of the Hamburg Innovation Awards contest have announced the finalists in three categories: business idea with the most potential (idea), the most exciting start-up (start) and the most innovative growth company (growth) in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. The winning teams can expect to receive well-equipped start-up kits with prizes in kind and cash prizes.
Feedback on business ideas
The competing teams also receive detailed feedback on their business ideas and gain an opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs. However, certain dates have yet to be clarified owing to the corona crisis, but are likely to be resolved soon.
Idea category
The finalists in the “idea” category are Heron Fan, hoλos and Plancraft. Heron Fan’s turbine-free aircraft engine reduces weight and complexity and consumes less fuel making flying more efficient. Meanwhile, the hoλos navigation system, developed at HAW Hamburg based on augmented reality and artificial intelligence, analyses the driver’s environment and reduces distractions by means of a 3D navigation system. Plancraft's business idea equips craftsmen's workshops with software for processing orders efficiently.
Start
Finalists in the "start" category for the most exciting start-up are Heimathaufen, LignoPure, and Panda. The Heimathaufen team has developed a concentrated powder that can be mixed with shower gel and shampoo. Meanwhile, LignoPure has developed a sustainable, plastic-free product based on lignin, which is tailor made to customers' needs. The third nominee, Panda, uses artificial intelligence to automatically identify the causes of errors in production processes and to adjust production parameters.
Growth
The "growth" company honors the most innovative companies. The nominees are Luis Technology, which has developed turning-assistant technology for lorries and make roads less prone to accidents. Synergeticon has developed a robotic arm that learns with artificial intelligence and is able to write the programme for its tasks itself. This improves interaction between man and machine.
