Elbphilharmonie announces ticket sales for October concerts

The highlights include Paavo Järvi, principal conductor of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, who will perform three symphonies entitled "Haydn, the Shakespeare of Music". The Vienna Philharmonic also returns to the Grand Hall with a French-inspired repertoire. The world-famous Zubin Mehta, formerly principal conductor of the New York Philharmonic, will conduct three concerts by the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in late October. And Sylvain Cambreling, principal conductor of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, will perform Francesco Filidei's "The Red Death" with the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Chorwerk Ruhr and the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart.

Jazz fans can look forward to the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra led by Wynton Marsalis, the internationally acclaimed jazz trumpeter. The famous U.S. soprano Renée Fleming, who has rarely performed in Europe, will sing Olivier Messiaen's "Poèmes pour Mi" as a guest of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. 

Other highlights in October include duos by violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja and cellist Sol Gabetta, as well as performances by the Colin Currie Group, who play works by minimal music star Steve Reich. The percussion experts will bring Reich's latest work, "Traveller's Prayer" to Hamburg and will present Reich's classic "Tehillim" with the vocal ensemble Synergy Vocals. The concert series features "Jazz Piano", "Pianomania", "Orgel pur", "Blind Date" (surprise concert) and "Herbst-Debüts" (chamber music).
