Dual university HSBA tops CHE Ranking 2020

Bachelor students rate HSBA above average

The Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA) has achieved an "above average" score in the Centre for Higher Education Development's (CHE) ranking, a press release said Tuesday (May 5, 2020). The university reached the top group in eleven (out of 15) categories for business administration courses and in eight of 13 for business informatics courses making the HSBA one of the best dual universities in Germany. The HSBA offers internationally-orientated dual Bachelor's and full or part-time Master's degree programmes.

New campus 

The CHE ranking evaluates courses, instruction, equipment, research and also surveys students about conditions at dual universities all over Germany. The comparison is considered one of the most comprehensive and detailed university rankings in the German-speaking region. Prof. Dr. Insa Sjurts, President of HSBA, remarked: "We are very pleased with this result. It is a wonderful acknowledgement of our work and shows that our efforts to constantly adjust our studies, teaching and research are successful. The move to our new campus at the end of May will enable us to also significantly improve our services for students, particularly in terms of premises and IT infrastructure. An important feel-good factor for us all!" The present campus has been based at Alten Wall since 2015 and will move into new headquarters on the Willy-Brandt-Straße. 

Criteria - linking theoretical and practical studies

HSBA reached the the top group in nine out of eleven business administration programmes and seven out of ten business informatics areas also scored top marks. Students awarded above-average marks for the general study situation, the range of courses, the administration, the supervision by lecturers and the dovetailing of theoretical and practical phases. The university improved significantly in terms of linking theory and practice, examinations, support during studies and supervision by lecturers. It should also be noted that 99.5 per cent of undergraduate degree students complete their studies within the standard period of study. The ranking is avaibable online at ZEIT CAMPUS.
