City of Hamburg forges closer co-operation with AI start-ups

Hamburg signs Memorandum of Understanding with ARIC

Hamburg's local government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg e.V. (ARIC) forging closer co-operation with start-ups specialising in AI products and services.

Artificial intelligence to update offices

"AI holds great potential for updating the administration. This agreement opens up direct access to the very dynamic north German and international AI community," said Christian Pfromm, Chief Digital Officer. Alois Krtil, CEO of ARIC e.V, commented: "AI developments are advancing rapidly worldwide, so I am very pleased to jointly harness this potential for Hamburg." The partners have agreed to work closely to set up a market and to share expert knowledge and best practices with emphasis on government technology.

GovTecHH brings administration together with start-ups

Launched in April 2022 by the City of Hamburg, the venture client unit around GovTech brings public authorities, district offices, state enterprises and start-ups together. Potential collaborations are backed from market exploration to design. GovTecHH also advises innovative start-ups and fledgling companies keen on co-operating with local government for two years initially. ARIC's overarching AI offer links up commerce, science and society.
