The prize for young researchers ensures the Hamburg Metropolitan Region’s competitive edge as a centre of aviation and keeps well-trained academics in the region. The winners of the categories "Bachelor" and "Master" will each receive EUR 1,500 in prize money and can take part in the 2022 Hamburg Aviation Forums free of charge. The winner of the special "Green Aviation" category, launched in 2020, receives EUR 800 in prize money. The award honours forward-looking approaches to sustainable flying and highlights the need for rethinking environmental protection in aviation.
Applications for the "Hamburg Aviation Young Talent Award" are being accepted until the deadline of June 1, 2021. University graduates can submit their aviation-related bachelor's or master's thesis for the Young Talent Award regardless of the discipline. Demand for approaches to sustainable air transport are high this year. The award, presented by the Hamburg Aviation cluster, promotes talented young people with innovative ideas for the German aviation industry.

The award will be presented during 60th Hamburg Aviation Forum on October 28, 2021. Applicants whose supervising company or the university from which they graduate must be based in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. The award is backed by the Ministry of Economics in Hamburg, Airbus and Krüger Aviation, among others.
