Leading international property fair underway from March 12-15, 2024 in south of France

Around 21 Hamburg-based companies including Hamburg Invest and Hafencity Hamburg GmbH are heading to Cannes for the leading MIPIM property fair from March 12-15, 2024. Leading stakeholders and investors will meet at the Palais des Festivals to network and for talks on industry trends. Hamburg will present its property sector at a joint stand in Cannes.

Hamburg attractive to global investors

"More than almost any other city, Hamburg stands for long-term success and a particularly high standard of living. That makes Hamburg attractive for national and international investors and developers, as well as for companies that want to relocate to our city even in economically difficult times for the property sector," said Dr Andreas Dressel, Senator for Finance. Improved conditions for housing subsidies and hereditary building rights are further good reasons to invest in Hamburg, said Karen Pein, Senator for Urban Development and Housing. MIPIM 2024 focuses on reconciling economic success with sustainability requirements, social measures and a changed interest and financing landscape. "Thus, we are streamlining building regulations, digitalising approval processes in Hamburg and helping to reduce construction costs. At the same time, more building plots are being developed throughout the city," said Pein.

Property sector continues to develop

"The 'Hamburg of Tomorrow' is being created in close co-operation with urban society, science and business," said Dr Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest. Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld and tecHHub Hamburg among others are advancing technological and social progress in line with the regional innovation strategy. "They decide how we want to live and work in future and create the best conditions for the property sector to invest in Hamburg," he added. Andreas Kleinau, CEO of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, said: "In 2024, HafenCity will be presented as a highly dynamic, resilient district with outstanding opportunities for urban and property development. The new Grasbrook, Billebogen and Science City are also attractive development areas."
