Strong anchor tenants

The industrial and commercial location of Bramfeld is characterized by strong anchor tenants. Through their private-sector involvement, these make a significant contribution to the economic, urban planning and architectural development. They include the Otto Group and, as part of this, Hermes Fulfillment and bonprix. The municipal companies Stromnetz Hamburg and Hamburger Energiewerke are also based here. These contribute to the security of supply for all Hamburgers with their economic activities on site and from here in the Hamburg urban area.

The Otto Campus in Hamburg-Bramfeld is home to the Otto Group and the largest Group subsidiaries: OTTO and bonprix. The 205,000-square-meter site is equivalent to about 35 soccer fields and provides space for 4,900 employees in 53 buildings. New modern working environments are being created through the 100 million euro conversion of an old warehouse building into the new headquarters called GoEast. Around 3,000 employees will be able to work in a multi-space concept on nine floors. The campus is continuously growing to meet the company's needs. Otto Future Campus

In Hamburg-Bramfeld, 'Life Hamburg' is a lighthouse project and experiment being built on the site of the Otto headquarters. The building offers space for school, daycare, university offerings and diverse living areas. It includes sports, health and leisure spaces such as yoga, meditation, Chinese medicine, urban gardening and art courses for all age groups. With 12,000 square meters of usable space on three floors and a sustainable design, primarily made of wood and powered by solar panels, the inclusive and flexible building is expected to accommodate 1,500 people. An auditorium for 500 people will become the focal point of the building. The demolition of existing buildings on the site will allow the project to be realized

Otto Group

Werner Otto founded the 'Werner Otto Versandhandel' in 1949. Already in the following year, the first Otto catalog was published with a print run of 300 copies; 28 shoe models were offered on 14 pages. In the meantime, the company has grown into the Otto Group, an internationally active trading and services group with 30 major business groups in the segments of platforms, brand concepts, retailers, services and financial services. It includes companies such as bonprix, Manufactum and Hermes. Retail continues to be the company's core business. The Group generates more than 65 percent of all revenues in this segment through its approximately 100 online stores worldwide, making it one of the world's largest online retailers after Amazon. The Otto Group employs around 50,000 people - almost half of them in Germany. The headquarters in Hamburg-Bramfeld was occupied in 1960 by the former Otto-Versand, and today the Otto Campus, headquarters of the Otto Group, is located here.

Stromnetz Hamburg

In 1894, eight shipowners, bankers and businessmen founded Hamburgische Elektrizitäts-Werke AG (HEW). It was commissioned with the production and supply of electricity and district heating to the urban area. The Swedish group Vattenfall held 96. 8% of HEW in 2002 and was renamed Vattenfall Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH in 2012. Shortly after, the purchase of the entire energy network of the city of Hamburg was decided by referendum. Since 2014, Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH, with 1,200 employees, has been under municipal control again. As the owner and operator of the approximately 30,000 km long electricity distribution network, the municipal company is responsible for grid operation, control, monitoring, development, expansion, fault management as well as the public charging infrastructure for electromobility.

bonprix trading company

Bonprix is a fashion retailer in Germany and Europe with five of its own brands. Around 2,900 employees work for the company in 25 countries worldwide. In addition to women's, men's and children's clothing, the product range also includes house and home textiles, as well as small items of furniture and accessories. bonprix Handelsgesellschaft mbH was founded in 1986 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Otto Group. Its headquarters are located on the Otto Campus in Hamburg-Bramfeld. Since the 1990s, the fashion retailer has been using various sales channels: catalog business, e-commerce, stores and TV. In 1999, the first bonprix store opened in Hamburg, and the fashion company now has over 70 stores in Germany and over 30 more in Austria, Switzerland and Italy. The majority of the company's sales, however, come from online retailing. Bonprix is one of the largest online stores in Germany.
