"We are in the process of reinventing and expanding the trade fair concept. Through our digital programme, we want to bring the industry together this year despite the difficult circumstances. When we meet again on the Hamburg Messe und Congress exhibition grounds in 2022, some of these new services might turn out to be welcome additions to the proven trade fair concept,” Bernd Aufderheide, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH. At present, organizers are striving to maximise Wind Energy's online content. "Apart from company and product presentations, the digital offers will include training, business and networking opportunities and give delegates an opportunity to hold individual meetings in digital spaces.
Wind Energy Hamburg 2020 is going entirely digital this year and will open its doors online from December 1-4 rather than in the exhibition halls. The coronavirus has forced Hamburg Messe und Congress to come up with a free virtual event rather than a traditional trade fair. Fee-paying delegates can attend supplementary live events and avail of on-demand content.
Rethinking trade fairs
Exploiting potential of wind energy
This year's highlights include the WindEurope conference which is also going virtual. "This year’s WindEurope conference comes in a new form. For the first time, alongside the main conference programme, there’ll be a ‘Wind TV’ channel which will give access to exclusive live and on-demand content. So you won’t just be tuning into Teams/Zoom panels,” said Giles Dickson, CEO of Wind Europe. Top-calibre delegates will focus on ways of exploiting the potential of wind energy. Topics on the agenda include licensing procedures, community involvement, electrification, hydrogen from renewable sources, technologies, innovation and supply chains in the wind energy sector.
