19 September 2023
Europe's biggest club festival comes of age, co-operates with Republica, hosts Sustain! Summit - 10th anniversary of Musikdialog

This year’s Reeperbahn Festival gets underway Wednesday (September 20-23, 2023) in Hamburg’s Stage Operettenhaus. "The Reeperbahn Festival is coming of age this year and we are looking forward to around 49,000 visitors over four days," said Alexander Schulz, Managing Director RBX GmbH and founder of the Reeperbahn Festival. Music fans can attend some 380 concerts and around 4,000 trade delegates from 35 countries are expected. "The Reeperbahn Festival is not only Europe’s largest club festival, but also one of the most important music industry gatherings. It is also  one of Europe's leading platforms for international talent and pop culture," said Claudia Roth, Germany’s Minister of State and Federal Commissioner for Culture and Media, who is among the politicians expected as well as Dr Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg, Wolfgang Schmidt, Head of the Federal Chancellery, and Dr Carsten Brosda, Hamburg’s Senator for Culture and Media. The opening show will feature British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks, Britain’s indie-rock trio, Cassia, and winner of the festival’s 2022 Anchor Award and the Iniko electro-pop and alternative band from New York.

Sustain! Summit & Republica

This year’s festival theme is "What's next?" and mulls the future of the music industry and whether it can become sustainable. The first Sustain! Green Culture Summit gets underway featuring panels, keynotes and practical examples from all over Europe to boost the sustainable transformation of the cultural industry. And this year, Republica, Europe's largest digital and social conference, will make its Hamburg debut during the festival. Talks, keynotes, workshops and performances will be held on three stages from September 22 in the Heiligengeistfeld. They include sessions like "Let's go to Diskutopia - way out of the disinformation crisis?" (12:45 pm on September 22 in the Spiegelzelt), "Rethink Circular Economy - AI-driven innovations in the Circular Economy" (1:30 pm on September 22 in the Neo House) and "The Gospel according to Elon Musk" (3:15 pm on September 23 in the Hangar).

Republica international

Founded in 2007 by Tanja Haeusler, Andreas Gebhard, Markus Beckedahl and Johnny Haeusler, the shareholders of Republica GmbH focus on network policy, digital culture, digital society, gender equality and diversity. More than 50 per cent of keynote speakers at Republica are female. Meanwhile, Republica has been held in Dublin, Thessaloniki and in Ghana’s capital Accra. The aim of Republica’s African edition is to strengthen talks between Germany and Africa on digital issues and to use the intersections beneficially.
