With 12,700 employees, the Airbus Operations GmbH is the largest company in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, followed by Asklepios Kliniken GmbH (12,000), German Lufthansa AG (9750), Otto GmbH & Co. KG (8,500) and Deutsche Bahn (8,450). “With the overview, we want to show the broad business base of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region and to win investors and professionals”, says Lutz Bethge, CEO of Corporate Advisory Board of the Initiative Pro Metropolitan Region Hamburg e. V. (IMH) that published the survey.

“Here in Hamburg, the largest economic centre of Northern Europe, we have a very healthy mix of future-oriented industries, which gives us great advantage in international competition”, says Prof. Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz, IMH Chairman and Chief Executive of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

Another innovative fact of the top 100 ranking by personnel is the fact of revenues published in addition to staff figures, explains Schmidt-Trenz. The overview is now available on the websites www.imh.de and www.hk24.de.

The Initiative Pro Metropolitan Region Hamburg e.V. was founded on 11 June 2013 by seven chambers of industry and trade, three chambers of crafts, the employers’ association UVNord and the German trade union’s division north (DGB Bezirk Nord).
