Enhancing city's position as a centre of music – new website provides information on training courses and job descriptions

The Hamburg Music Association has launched a skills initiative to retain Hamburg's musical landscape and to highlight new perspectives for creative artists. A wide range of measures are in the planning for this year. The new Music Business Careers web portal will be at the centre of the events.

Website as contact point for people interested and active in music

"Our skills programme and the Music Business Careers portal are a practical response to the existing challenges in the music sector," said Timo Wiesmann, Director of Hamburg Music. A study on Hamburg as a centre of music conducted by the association revealed that the music industry is one of the main pillars of Hamburg's cultural agenda and economy. The new measures should guarantee the supply of skilled people and the new website will play a key role therein. It will provide information on different professional openings and paths into a career in music throughout German-speaking Europe.

Skills programme aims to boost Hamburg as a centre of music

In addition, the Recruiting Coaching programme for SMEs companies is another essential component of the skills initiative. On-the job courses will aim to improve quality in recruiting and provide long-term incentives for staff. The aim is to enhance Hamburg as a musical centre in the long term, by offering tangible support to both companies and staff, Wiesmann stressed.
