Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster to present prize for innovation and commitment

The Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster (EEHH) is gearing up to host the first-ever, corona-induced, hybrid German Renewables Award ceremony on September 22, 2020. An independent jury including representatives of science, research and commerce will present the award in four categories: Product Innovation of the Year, Project of the Year, Student Work of the Year and Lifetime Achievement. The plans also foresee an award for outstanding journalism.

Hybrid event

The ceremony will be held in the Opernloft in the old ferry terminal (Alten Fährterminal) in Altona. Only a limited number of guests have been invited to the event owing to corona-induced restrictions.  A livestream will be available to all other interested parties. The prizewinners will receive a trophy and free admission to all of the cluster's events for a year. The author of the "Student Paper of the Year" will receive EUR 1,000 in prize money for outstanding research into the fundamentals of renewable energies.

Corona crisis as an opportunity for innovation

A July survey of the cluster's member companies found that renewable energies remains important despite the pandemic. The crisis may yet present a great opportunity for innovations such as the German Renewables Award, according to the survey entitled "Market recovery using renewable energies after the corona pandemic".
