EUR 30,000 available for volunteer projects

15 July 2024
Applications from voluntary projects accepted until deadline of August 31, 2024

The Ministry of Social Welfare is accepting applications to fund volunteer projects until the deadline of August 31, 2024 as part of the senate’s bid to promote volunteering.  A total of EUR 200,000 is available for 2025 for city-wide volunteering projects, which will receive between EUR 5,000 and EUR 30,000.

Strategy focusing on urban initiatives

Projects and initiatives run mainly by volunteers and involving the entire city or that have an impact beyond its limits are eligible for funding. That includes projects that network local stakeholders, boost volunteers' digital skills or back vulnerable target groups such as refugees or people with disabilities.

Enabling access to suitable voluntary work

The volunteering strategy was adopted in 2019 based on suggestions from residents of Hamburg. In 2021, focus turned to volunteering throughout the city following the "Volunteering in the Districts" funding guideline. The overarching goal is to encourage and improve access to volunteering and to provide good framework conditions.
