Ministry for Environment honours greening projects

Online entries are being accepted for the Green Buildings Award until the deadline of July 31, 2022. The awards are presented by the Ministry for the Environment and honour greening projects on roofs and facades that stand out in terms of quality, design and use.

More emphasis on greening of buildings

Hopes are now high that the greening will lead to even more projects. Owners and tenants and all those involved in planning the greening are eligible to enter. The greened area must be at least 12 square metres in size, at least six months old and no more than ten years old. The greened building must be located in Hamburg or in a neighbouring suburb e.g., Pinneberg, Segeberg, Stormarn, Herzogtum Lauenburg, Harburg, Stade or Cuxhaven.

Cash and non-cash prizes

The jury will meet on August 19, 2022 to award cash and non-cash prizes. Judges will take the benefits of green roofs and facades for residents into account and rate their added value e.g., new open and leisure spaces or and improved urban climate and noise reduction. The awards will be presented on September 14, 2022 during the "Greening  the City" exhibition in the AIT-Architektursalon Hamburg.
