Emirates operating world's largest passenger aircraft on daily Hamburg-Dubai flights

A scheduled Emirates Airbus A380 will land in Hamburg on Sunday (October 31, 2021) after 19 months and will commence daily operations, Hamburg Airport announced Thursday (October 28, 2021). The Arab airline switched to Boeing 777 jets on the Hamburg-Dubai route when the pandemic sent passenger numbers plunging. The "Expo 2020 Dubai" is now driving demand for flights. That spells good news for business travellers and tourists as Emirates operates flights to many popular destinations including the Maldives, the Seychelles and Mauritius from Hamburg via Dubai.

Rising demand

"Emirates' resumption of its scheduled A380 service to Dubai underlines the growing demand for that route. Dubai is one of the top destinations from Hamburg Airport in winter as it offers year-round sun, warm temperatures and dream beaches." Dubai has made headlines since early October. "Expo 2020 Dubai is attracting people from all over the world," said Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport. The first World Expo in an Arab nation began on October 1 under the motto of "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future". Tourists can marvel at fascinating worlds in 190 national pavilions and themed attractions until late March 2022. Emirates is offering a free, day pass to the World Expo with every return ticket to or via Dubai.

Airbus A380 "Made in Hamburg"

The world's largest passenger aircraft measures 72.2 metres in length and has a wingspan of 79.8 metres. The aircraft boasts two full-length passenger decks for up to 615 passengers in 2-class seating and up to 517 passengers in 3-class seating. The A380 has roots in Hamburg as the final paint job on all Emirates A380s is done at the Airbus plant in Finkenwerder. The cabin interior is also installed there.
