Only delegates, who are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19, will be admitted to the three-day conference. "Blockchance is one of the biggest events in the blockchain ecosystem this year. It is most important for us to be able to fully exploit the networking potential of our conference," said Friedrich. The conference will be streamed live to give everyone an opportunity to video chat with others.
Hamburg to become blockchain city
Hamburg is focusing on the technology of the future as part of its Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS): "The senate would like to promote the use of blockchain technology in important industries across Hamburg, for instance, the energy sector, logistics and manufacturing," said Michael Westhagemann, Senator of Economics, who will address the conference.

What is a blockchain?
A blockchain is a decentralised database in which a record of transactions made in bitcoin or another cryptocurrency is maintained across several computers that are linked in a peer-to-peer network. The database is expanded chronologically in a linear fashion, comparable to a chain to which new elements are constantly added. A new block is created as soon as one is complete.
