Around 788 applications had been submitted by late August. Three expert juries, one for each artistic field, have now decided on the recipients. The grants will enable freelance artists to develop and to carry out their projects despite the restrictions.
"There has never been a scholarship programme of this size for solo artists in Hamburg before," said Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. In the last one and a half years, it has often been impossible for the artists to pursue their artistic activities. "We have developed the funding scheme with our co-operating partners to give artists an outlook and enable them to work on artistic projects," he added. The scheme complements the previous coronavirus aid and offers the artists more financial support.
