"The electrification of the last mile is an important part of sustainable logistics solutions," said Michael Westhagemann Senator for Economics. The steadily increasing number of parcels has made a reduction in noise pollution, traffic volume and emissions necessary. A first step has now been taken in this direction.
Co-ordinated by the Hamburg-based HySolutions GmbH, the project marks the start of a nationwide move to render delivery services electric. All four companies involved have developed ideas to make their fleets electric. One concept foresees improved route planning for e-transporters and guidelines have been drawn up to prepare depots for the use of e-transporters.
