Focus on the food industry

The Lademannbogen location has long established itself as a business centre for the food industry, with eminent companies such as Block House Fleischerei, Fisch Koch, and Hummelsbüttler Katenrauch. What these companies have in common is a long tradition and high quality standards. Block House Fleischerei GmbH was founded in 1973 to provide guests with first-class steaks. Today, the butcher’s shop is located at Lademannbogen 127. Any meat processed here is handled by highly trained staff and according to strict guidelines. Products include anything from steak to carpaccio. Likewise, Fisch Koch, a traditional fish smokery and fish shop established in the 1920s, attaches great importance to top quality. This runs through all areas of business, from the procurement and processing of fish to the maintenance of machines. Hummelsbüttler Katenrauch, another family business, offers home-made sausages and meat products. Thanks to its presence at local farmer’s markets and its popular range of products, such as air-dried ham and breakfast meats, the company is known far beyond the locality. These three companies represent the long tradition of the food industry at Lademannbogen.

Municipal utilities

The Lademannbogen industrial area is home to several regional and municipal utilities and waste disposal companies. These include e.g. a large recycling yard by Hamburger Stadtreinigung, which enables private and commercial customers to dispose of a wide range of materials in a climate-friendly way. Likewise, the depot of Hamburger Hochbahn is centrally located, ensuring short distances and thus saving energy and money. This is also where the future use of innovative drive systems is being advanced. As the range of many new technologies is still fairly limited, short distances to the buses’ place of use are particularly favourable. The Hamburger Training Center (HAZ) has been training young people in metal and electrical engineering professions since 1977. The centre is involved in both in-house and external training, with a special focus on supporting disadvantaged young people. From its location at Lademannbogen, it serves more than 100 industrial companies in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.

Adjacent nature reserves

Stretching over 61 hectares of land, the beautiful Hummelsbüttler Feldmark/Alstertal recreational area is located in the immediate vicinity of the Lademannbogen industrial estate. As well as boasting several nature reserves, the area offers a number of attractions, such as small biotopes, wetland meadows, and the Hummelsee lake. Further in the south, riding stables, bridle paths, small farms, agricultural land and sports and leisure facilities are also worth a visit. The Lademannbogen site further benefits from the relevant green infrastructure available in the north of Hamburg, which is regarded as a landscape axis, a cold-air extraction area/fresh air corridor, as well as a biotope network and a flora hotspot for biodiversity.

Block Foods

Block Foods AG goes back to the first Block House steak restaurant in Hamburg-Winterhude, which was established over 50 years ago. The experience of running a restaurant, a passion for the catering trade and high quality standards gradually gave rise to the Block Foods group of companies. Today, there are as many as 54 Block House restaurants across Europe, serving over 6 million guests annually. Jim Block, the “better burger restaurant chain”, was founded in 1973 and currently comprises 12 locations: nine in Hamburg, two in Berlin, and one in Hanover. Four independent companies are managed under the umbrella of Block Foods AG, which produce beef and convenience products for the catering, hospitality, wholesale and food retail sectors. The production companies Block Menü and the master butcher’s shop, which were originally founded to ensure the quality of products in the Block House restaurants, have since evolved into independent, strong sales companies that now generate over 70% of their sales by supplying external customers.

FFG Fahrzeugwerkstätten Falkenried GmbH is a unique Hamburg-based company that has made history through its significant role in shaping public transport and vehicle construction for over 130 years. As a developer and manufacturer of innovative roof workstations and an expert in both conventional and electric buses, the company plays a leading role in industry and now also offers services for escalators. With over 300 dedicated employees at eight locations in Hamburg, FFG does far more than just traditional vehicle maintenance. FFG’s corporate headquarters at Lademannbogen comprise the company’s central administrative office and main workshop. In addition to its core business tasks, FFG coordinates the management of bus fleets from here, which further reflects FFG’s diversity and range of services. With its profound expertise, FFG makes a significant contribution to Hamburg’s pioneering role in the field of public transport and vehicle construction.

Bärenkälte

Combining professional expertise with economic working methods, Bärenkälte GmbH has over 30 years of experience doing business in Northern Germany. Solutions provided by Bärenkälte include e.g. air conditioning technology, ventilation and cooling systems, cold rooms, compound refrigeration systems, air conditioning units, VRV systems, chillers, heat pumps and VRV heating systems as well as server cooling equipment. Each system is planned and customised on an individual basis and in alignment with current requirements and economic calculations. Moreover, Bärenkälte has production-related expertise with regard to server rooms, IT rooms and technical rooms. At Bärenkälte, the customer takes centre stage, with a support team that is available 24/7 and offers ongoing support for all products. With its strong focus on customer care and its broad range of specialised services, Bärenkälte has long made a name for itself in Northern Germany.
