Established in 1946, the company with headquarters in Waldkirch (Baden-Württemberg) set up business in Hamburg in 2010, producing sensor-based solutions from here. At the Merkurring site in Hamburg, more than 120 employees currently work on laser and RFID technology as well as radar sensors that are used e.g. for collision prevention in ports, for the classification of traffic, as a navigation aid, or in automotive production. At its second Hamburg site, which is situated at Poppenbütteler Bogen, SICK also develops application solutions for process automation, e.g. for gas and liquid analyses.

Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH is a global technology leader in the field of lidar (light detection and ranging) sensors as well as associated products and software tools. The technology is used e.g. as part of driver assistance systems in cars and in the field of autonomous driving. Ibeo is committed to its goal of turning cars into cooperative partners in the driving process and thus contribute to road safety. The company currently distributes two types of sensors: the well-established ibeo LUX sensor and the innovative ibeoNEXT solid-state lidar sensor that is capable of displaying objects in 4D. When combined with Ibeo’s software products, the smart lidar scanners open up forward-looking solutions – not only in the field of autonomous driving, but also in other areas of application. Following an insolvency phase (in self-administration), the Hamburg-based enterprise was acquired by MicroVision, a US company, in 2022.

SUND Holding GmbH & Co. KG is made up of five companies: DEISS, a market leader in garbage bags and bin liners; FIPP, a leading supplier of household tools for trade use; BINGOLD, a provider of high-quality single- and multiple use gloves; SUND Digital, a consultancy company for e-commerce marketing; as well as SUND GmbH + Co. KG, which provides core services to the affiliated companies. Supplying customers throughout Europe with products for everyday use, SUND Group is one of the highest-turnover family businesses in the region. To continue on this successful path, the group of companies moved into a new corporate head office in Victoria Park in 2022. The new office building in the quarter of Rahlstedt is both modern and sustainable and will be awarded the Platinum Standard certificate by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

akquinet cubit GmbH, a Hamburg-based IT services provider, is planning to set up another state-of-the-art data centre in Victoria Park. In the past, the company already established a data centre in Alsterdorf (Hamburg) as well as in Norderstedt (north of Hamburg). The new data centre will be largely built underground and, due to the subject matter, will meet very high security requirements. The building design and the technical equipment of the data centre allow for high levels of energy efficiency compared with other data centres in Germany. To accelerate the construction process, the company is seeking to apply for pre-approval for the excavation of the 14-metre-deep building pit. The building is scheduled to be completed in no more than 13 months.

Starlab International GmbH is a group of companies specialising in liquid handling technology and laboratory products. Starlab’s portfolio includes laboratory consumables such as pipette tips, single-channel and multi-channel pipettes, cell culture and PCR consumables, nitrile and latex gloves as well as general laboratory equipment. In addition, Starlab provides pipette services for all pipette brands. Products range from classic single and multi-channel pipettes (both manual and electronic) to dispensers and pipetting aids. Starlab's products and services are aimed at public sector research institutions, such as biological and medical institutes, universities and hospitals, but also at private companies in the life sciences sector.
