Hamburg to become test ground for autonomous ridepooling from mid-2025 - MOIA boss Sascha Meyer outlines plans and objective
MOIA’s gold and black electric minibuses roll almost silently along Hamburg's streets day and night. The subsidiary of the VW Group has been operating an on-demand ridepooling service in the city since 2018 and is now planning its next big step. MOIA and its five partners will put driverless vehicles on roads across Hamburg from mid-2025 as part of the "Alike" project - tests of which are already underway. The German Ministry for Digital and Transport is putting EUR 26 million towards the project, which could become a blueprint for the urban mobility transition. In our latest Future Hamburg Talk, Sascha Meyer, CEO of MOIA, gives insight into the project and explains what it means for future of public transport.
