Award honours forecast of key macroeconomic indicators for Germany in 2019

FocusEconomics, a leading provider of economic analysis and forecasts headquartered in Spain, has named the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI) as the recipient of the 2020 Forecast Award for Germany, a HWWI press release said Friday (May 15, 2020). The prize honours HWWI as the most accurate forecaster of the main macroeconomic indicators in Germany for 2019.

HWWI identifies economic dynamics

To identify the best forecasters, FocusEconomics analyses forecasts submitted to their monthly survey over a period of 22 months. The delighted business cycle analysts and researchers at HWWI, Jörg Hinze and Prof. Dr. Henning Vöpel, remarked: “We’re honoured to earn this recognition from the FocusEconomics. This award underlines our excellent scientific expertise. The accuracy of our macroeconomic forecasts for the German economy, is vital to politicians and the public in identifying current dynamics, seizing growth opportunities and navigating through risks."
